At Orycon

I’ll be at Orycon (at the Doubletree Hotel) in downtown Portland this week-end.

I’m participating in a group reading, with Alex Black and Lael Salaets, of our stories from the Writers of the Future 26 anthology.  That’s Friday night (11/12) at 8:00 p.m. in the Lincoln Room.

Also, I’ll be sitting on three panels Saturday (11/13):

  • Winning Writers of the Future (noon in the Jefferson/Adams Room) – with Ken Scholes, Aimee C. Amodio, Alex Black, Lael Salaets and Gra Linnaea.
  • Writing with all your senses (1:00 p.m. in the Madison Room) – with Nina Kriki Hoffman, Camille Alexa and Richard A. Lovett.
  • Dumbledore is gay? (5:00 p.m. in the Hawthorne Room) – with Louise Owen, Gene Armstrong and Judith R. Conly.

I’d love to say hello and chat with anyone who happens by.  Hope to see you there.

  1. Hehe… I find it funny how the first two are writing related and the third is “Dumbledore is gay?” It’s a nice non sequitur.

I have my first con as a panelist coming up. I ended up on three panels, and I initially thought that might be too much, but you’re on three as well so maybe it’s not so bad. 🙂

    • It’s supposed to be a panel about the inclusion of LGBT characters in speculative fiction. I guess they thought that title would attract the curious. You’re right, of course. Sort of old news; it’s been three years since Rowling outed Albus. Three panels isn’t too bad. This will be my third time working a convention. The first time, at Rustycon last January, I sat on five panels and did a reading. Talk about your baptisms.

  2. I’m jealous of your WotF 26 mini-pow-wow. It would be cool to do an event/reading with some others from the ToC. But I am on the wrong side of the continent for this one. Sometimes I might as well be on the wrong continent like some of the other guys are. Glad you fine folks are representing for us. Sell lots of books!
